Fundraiser at Starlight - Every Little Bit Helps

We're excited and humbled by the great generosity from our friends at Starlight and the Uptown Waterloo core.

This Thursday Starlight is hosting a fundraiser event for the fire victims on August 23rd, 2012 which includes Ish & Chips and our two neighbours who lived upstairs and lost everything. The Fundraiser will feature local musicians, Shawn Kellerman, Saigon Hookers, Buns and Stagg, Daddy Long Legs and more to be announced.

The benefit will also have raffle prizes to be won donated by more than 50 local businesses. Doors open at 8pm and the benefit concert runs until 2am.

Ish on hiatus... Fire at 37 King St.

We're saddened to say that Ish and Chips has sustained heavy damage and will be closed for the unforeseeable future due to a major fire in our building.

We would like to say a big thank you to all of our amazing fans and patrons of our little restaurant for all the wonderful experiences past and present support in our difficult time. We hope we can bounce back and reopen sooner than later, the last 2 years of being in the Uptown have been an absolute blast. Coincidentally, the day of the fire we were also nominated for Best Fish & Chips in the Kitchener Record's Reader Select Awards... for that, we thank you as well.

Tinnitus Awareness Week

Today marks the first day of Tinnitus Awareness Week. Tinnitus is a condition where a person hears a buzzing or ringing sound that no one else can. It lasts forever, it is non-stop, and can be as loud as a jet and does not always occur at the hands of exposure to loud music.

It affects more than 250 million people worldwide. The Ish & Chips team is no stranger to this, as 4 of our staff members have this, including both owners.

There is no cure for this. But, lets do our part and raise awareness and help organizations like the American Tinnitus Association and find a cure to help those affected by it to know what silence sounds like.

After a brief hiatus from the Wilfrid Laurier University area, we're pleased to say that we are officially back!
